Iterative Work & Material Study

This project evolved through iterative testing across sketching, foam modeling, CAD refinement, and 3D printing. Different materials and print settings were explored to achieve the desired surface quality, weight, and form stability. Each iteration refined the object’s proportions while preserving the original intent of a simple, intuitive pen dock.

LUCENT

Lucent is a pen dock that lights up when the pen is removed. It reflects the process of ideas coming to life when we go to create. When the pen is removed and the light is on, Lucent serves as a sensory cue and signals to our brain that there is work to do.

Its soft and curved shape, following that of a lightbulb, fits in on a workspace quietly, and when lit up, provides soft lighting for the work environment. It sits at the intersection of a pen dock, a functional lighting solution, and a productivity tool.
